Stone Backsplash Inspiration – Design Trend Round Up
I love rounding up my favorite design inspiration that I see on the internet for you! Today we’re sharing a new trend we’re loving and think is going to stick around—Stone backsplashes in kitchens!
If you’ve followed us for a while you know that mom’s kitchen backsplash was poorly installed and it’s always been something she’s wanted to update. It looks great at a distance but you can see the flaws if you spend a minute of two in the kitchen. She’s decided this is the year she’ll be updating and she’s going to do a stone backsplash. This inspiration is what she’s using to create a kitchen she LOVES!

We are seeing a trend in earthy rustic elements paired with vintage-modern design. One of my favorite elements is the stone backsplash! And Lindsey Brooke executes it beautifully in this kitchen with this incredible gold and glass pendants, simple vent hood and a variation of shaker style cabinets, and an Austin stone textured with German smear!

The rustic beams with the warm rugged stone backsplash here, paired again with gold and marble is gorgeous! I love how they took the marble backsplash up to create a shelf. They work perfectly together! The feel is simple and timeless. The mix of textures with woven bar stools is warm and inviting!

No German smear is needed on this rich and earthy colored stone! And carrying it all the way to the top of the vault brings even more drama! There’s a multiple mix of stones with different granites on the counters but the colors in the backsplash bring the space together! And the light green cabinets add to this earthy look and feel.

The rough-cut stone and the hand-hewn beams are the wow factor in this space! The bluestone counters add to this rustic appeal. Amber Interiors almost always makes our design trend round-up lists and I’m not surprised she had amazing inspiration to offer with stone backsplashes.

Ah, this is a clean and modern bar with blue-gray cabinets that pick up on the blues in this incredible multicolored stone! Something so simple yet so striking paired together!

The technique of messy mortar on the edge allowing the stone to peak through is one of my favorite. The gold hues in the stone are perfect here! Simple elegant light wood cabinetry and white quartz counts allow this backsplash to be the star of the show! I love the lanterns alongside the vent hood on the stone giving an old-world flair!
EUROPEAN VILLA KITCHEN

This was my inspiration when I decided I would do a stone backsplash! Leave it to Joanna Gaines to get it done right! The heavy smear over this rugged stone, allowing only pops of rich warm pieces to pop through make an incredible statement! This looks like a kitchen in an 18th-century European villa. But it’s complete with incredible vintage-style modern-day appliances.

Did they take apart an old English barn to create this cozy beautiful kitchen? Wow! The barn beams and shiplap pair perfectly with this backsplash. It almost looks seamless with mortar joints that disappear using the same color as the stone! All the materials in this space fit together seamlessly!
WARM MODERN KITCHEN

Irregular stone in a neutral tone covers the entire wall of this backsplash. Again, the use of wood floors, wood beams in the ceiling, and wood cabinetry work alongside this stone to bring extra warmth and richness to an otherwise simple modern kitchen. The use of basket light pendants over not one but two islands is beautiful here.

Oh, true aged materials taken from the earth! Cobblestone takes you back to another time and place. And I love how Oz interiors used it in this kitchen! Everything feels authentic and rich! The vent hood plumbed through the roof, the tiny window looking outside and the stately wooden beams, this kitchen is so incredible throughout!

Leanne Ford has been way ahead of her time as her signature style has always involved earthy materials. She did this kitchen design on Rock the Block. Maybe the first to usher in this incredible trend that we’re seeing more of now.

This mix of large and small stone gives so must interest to this kitchen backsplash. The earthy simple vent hood compliments the space. And the beautiful wood floors add even more warmth. The pendants are super charming! This is definitely a one-of-a-kind kitchen!
I hope you enjoyed this inspiration. This is one of our favorite interior design trends right now. It’s a trend but it’s also a detail that we believe adds character to your home in a timeless way. I’d love to know in the comments your thoughts on the trend.
Hello, could you please provide (if available) any suppliers that sell this kind of stone. I am trying to locate something similar for a client of ours with no luck. We are a boutique tile showroom located in Tampa, FL.
