I loved watching my mom decorate for Christmas growing up. She’d add fresh pops of color to the house and it felt special. My mom always started early and always went all out. Now as an adult with a little one I want to provide that same whimsy and magic of the season for my family.

My daughter Quinn was running around with a flyer that came in the mail saying “CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS.” She’s now two and this is really the first season she’s really engaging with it. I know it’s early but I decided to start with Christmas in her playroom since the flyer brought her so much excitement.

I typically do a more neutral holiday design but thought it’d be fun to do bold colors here for Quinn! I started browsing on Walmart’s Holiday lookbook and these colorful ornaments caught my eye. I loved the pinkish tones with the gold. It was easy to find corresponding decor like the ornament wreath and the fun ‘Jolly’ Blocks. Once I rounded up a few colorful pieces it was super easy to stumble upon other affordable pretty things for the season on Walmart.com. I was so pleased with the prices I was finding. This flocked wreath was only $10!

One of my favorite things I found was this ‘Let’s Get Cozy’ Pillow! I love the texture that it brings, but also that I can use it outside of the holiday season. It was less than $12 y’all! It went really well with the black mantle that I brought in so I decided to add more black and white with the stockings. I loved that the stockings also had a similar texture. We added more texture with the fuzzy sheepskin rug as a tree skirt. We added a final splash of cozy with these sherpa throw blankets in a basket. These were less than $10!

We finished the look of the mantle with colorful bottle brush trees. I love the classic look of bottle brush trees! They never go out of style. Mom also insisted on adding snow which I now agree is a really fun element of the season.

When mom and I finished decorating Quinn ran in and said “CHRISTMAS.” It’s so fun to see her so excited and know that we’ve already started creating memories of the best season of the year. I’d love to hear in the comments how you create memories for your littles this season. What are your fondest memories of the season? Do you remember your mom decorating?
