My Little White Barn Home Tour: From Estate Sale to Dream Home

Today, we have a special treat: Shannon of @mylittlewhitebarn_’s stunning new home transformation. If you haven’t seen her previous homes, you’re in for a surprise. This before-and-after transformation is nothing short of breathtaking.

From Estate Sale Find to Dream Home

The Big Purchase

Shannon’s journey with this house began at an estate sale. She walked in and immediately had a vision for this amazing home. This house marks Shannon’s biggest estate sale purchase yet, leading to a household ban on attending future estate sales—or so her husband hopes.

Main Area Transformation

When you first walk into Shannon’s home, you’re greeted by an open, flowing space that was once several distinct rooms. The entryway, now part of the kitchen, used to be a closed-off living room with a fireplace. By opening up the walls, Shannon created a seamless flow from the dining area to the kitchen and larger dining space.

The Parlor Room: From Laundry Room to Sitting Room

Originally planned as a laundry room, Shannon decided to preserve the room’s beautiful windows and turned it into a parlor. This room can easily be adapted for various uses, showcasing Shannon’s flexible and creative approach to home design.

Office Turned Library

Shannon’s office underwent a significant transformation. She removed the old walls, added built-ins, and chose a light green color scheme instead of a dark, moody green.

While it functions more like a library, the space stores office essentials and books. Shannon’s husband needed a more traditional office space, which we’ll explore later. The powder bath in this area is sweet as well.

The Heart of the Home: Kitchen

The kitchen is arguably the most dramatic transformation in Shannon’s home. She opened it up to the dining room and the new butler’s pantry, which was initially an outdoor space.

Even the appliances are pretty with her white and gold Ilve Range and the panel ready fridge disguised as cabinets.

Shannon incorporated furniture-like pieces and various textiles to add warmth and coziness to her white kitchen. Shannon’s favorite elements in the kitchen are the light fixture and lamp shades.

For those wondering, the paint colors are Snowbound on the walls and Pure White on the cabinets. The countertops are a quartz variety known as Calacatta Gold.

Simple Elegance in the Dining Room

Shannon kept the dining room decor simple with Snowbound walls, beadboard trim, and a long table perfect for family gatherings. The space is designed for both everyday meals and special occasions.

The dining room features a fabric bench and a long table, ideal for hosting large family gatherings. Shannon’s use of neutral colors and textures creates an inviting atmosphere.

Cozy and Inviting Family Room

Family Room Makeover

The family room, converted from a garage by the original owners, now serves as a cozy space for Shannon’s family. The room features a charming fireplace and a wet bar, adding both functionality and character.

Shannon’s favorite feature in the family room is the fireplace, which adds a touch of old-fashioned charm. The wet bar is another unique element, providing storage for wine glasses and specialty items. The before of the bar was so different with a deep red paint color.

The New Addition: Primary Bedroom

Shannon and her husband decided to add a new primary bedroom rather than converting an existing space. This allowed them to start fresh and create a room that perfectly suits their needs.

Shannon loves the new doors that open into a dog run, making it convenient for letting the dogs out late at night. The addition of these doors adds both functionality and beautiful light into the room.

The primary bedroom features the sweetest chandelier from Ballard. The cozy bedding creates such a cozy retreat. The space is designed to be both relaxing and functional, with easy access to the sunroom.

Sunroom

This room is the only space that didn’t undergo a dramatic transformation. It was already bright and airy, surrounded by beautiful windows. Shannon added baskets and charming accents throughout, giving it her personal touch. She also transformed the backyard, creating a perfect view.

The Pool House: From Shed to Stunning Space

The pool house, which started as a shed, has been transformed into a stunning space that combines budget-friendly finds with high-end decor. Shannon used Amazon wallpaper and inexpensive tiles from Floor and Decor to create a chic yet cost-effective space.

The pool house features checkerboard flooring, a popular and budget-friendly design choice. Shannon used 12×12 tiles from Floor and Decor to create this look, making the entire floor cost around $300.

Mixing High and Low

Shannon balanced high-end items from Ballard Designs with budget-friendly finds from Amazon and Target. This mix creates a stylish and cohesive look without breaking the bank.

One of Shannon’s favorite elements in the pool house is the vintage-feel wallpaper from Amazon. She also used Target’s Studio McGee plates to add a touch of elegance to the space.
