Modern Meets Vintage Home Tour – Rickerson Renovation

We’re back with another home tour and I’m thrilled to be sharing one so amazing. If you’re new to the Farmhouse Living blog, once a month mom and I share a home tour of another homebody that has tons of inspiration to give. Today we’re sharing Ginni and Charlie of @RickersonRenovations with their amazing renovated home with the perfect mix of vintage and modern decor. You’re going to love this one.

LIVING ROOM

What a fun and eclectic, modern space! Some people might have been thrown off by the placement of the fireplace at the entry of the home, but the Rickerson’s leaned into it, creating a warm and inviting focal point. They further used the backside as a feature wall for the entry. To the right of the fireplace, a wall was removed so that guests could enter a small powder bath they created at the front entry. This offered a better flow as well. The major change was removing the wall leading to the kitchen to create this open concept living that is truly dreamy! The use of color on the trim, fireplace, and builtins against a white wall warms up the space! The mix of new and thrifted pieces is Ginni Richardson’s signature style that runs throughout the home. And it’s perfectly done in the living room!

KITCHEN

This kitchen is a 10 out of 10! Simple, modern, and well designed, the quartz counters and backsplash are the star of the show! The ledge is something we’re seeing more and more in kitchen design. It’s the perfect place to display art, cutting boards, or cookbooks! The sconces on either side of the vent hood act as lighting for the vintage art pieces. You can see vintage art throughout the home.

The Rickerson’s love to collect pieces from estate sales, antique malls, and fleas. Removing the wall allowed for a massive island with additional seating. The home sits on top of a hill with incredible lake views easily seen from this great open concept Living/Dining/Kitchen. And again the warm neutral on the cabinets matching the trim makes a bold impact against the clean white walls in this stunning kitchen design!

DINING ROOM

The windows in the dining room were the only thing left of the house besides the studs. And it was a great decision because it’s hard to find character like this in homes today. Ginni used a bench at the table so nothing blocked the view of these charming windows. The bench is also functional for the Rickerson family with 2 kiddos! The chandelier over the table is simple and elegant. If you’re looking for an example, Ginni did a great job of mixing metals in the kitchen/dining room. The built-in offers additional storage and displays more of the vintage finds. It’s a great feature and serves as a beautiful buffet.

PANTRY

The Rickerson’s created a large pantry for the family, complete with extra storage and a mini-fridge. It’s not just your typical stock pantry though. The fun pop of teal green from the backsplash and the quartz counter makes this a butler’s pantry extraordinaire.

LAUNDRY ROOM

Much like the pantry this is not your typical laundry room. While Ginni uses a calmer pallet in the main areas, she likes to use fun ,bright colors and patterns in secondary spaces. The butcher block counters and woven shades give a warmer feel. A gold vintage mirror and pendant light gives a dose of glam. The fun backsplash tile and unique wallpaper would make me want to do laundry here anytime!

MUDROOM

This mudroom is MAGICAL with bold green cabinets and a vintage rug. Even the smaller spaces were not an afterthought to the Rickersons.

POWDER BATH

The board and batten painted Sherwin Williams Iron Ore paired with the marble backsplash is a DREAM in this powder bath. They used penny tile to thoughtfully put the date that the house was built on the floor. I love that it gives a vintage feel with all the modern features. The wallpaper on the ceiling takes it over the top!

PRIMARY BEDROOM

The treasure hunted finds paired with the modern bed, mirrors and black frame doors show display how perfectly vintage and modern go together. Their primary suite will one day be a bonus space used as space for their kids to do school work and hang out once they build their addition. You would never know that this stunning bedroom was a temporary set up until their true master is built!

BOY BEDROOM

This home truly has me wanting to put accent walls EVERYWHERE. This board and batten in blue make the perfect room for any boy. I love that this is a room that can be continually grown into.

GIRLS ROOM

And the girls’ room! The green velvet bedding pops against the white walls perfectly. Their pink closet door puts an unexpected twist to the whole look. A vintage dresser gives an extra dose of character that really makes the room magical.

KIDS BATHROOM

I’m not going to lie! I’m jealous of the kids’ bathroom. This wallpaper from Rifle is so bold and artistic. I love how it goes against the wooden framed mirrors.
