Fall Home Tour

When you live in Texas there’s no telling when fall is going to make her appearance. At some point she’ll bring us cooler weather, but until then we have to create that fall feeling for ourselves and these Dallas gals can’t wait another minute. If you’re with us and itching for those autumn feels we have all the inspiration you need from design tips to our favorite recipes.

FALL LIVING ROOM

When adding touches of fall I always say start at the coziest space in your home—the fireplace. Recently as we were wandering around Pier 1 the Uva Stem caught our eye and instantly became the inspiration for this space. I’m glad you can see how grand it is next to the fireplace, because it doesn’t look as magical on the Pier 1 website. We use two of these 7 feet stems to instantly add warmth to the fireplace. Yes SEVEN FEET! We took the big statement and added other simple touches like an amber vase and stems from the yard.

When we start adding autumn decor, we start with texture. A nice cozy knit blanket, fresh branches with turning leaves, and natural textiles like linen, wool, and jute! You see these simple touches in the living room. We didn’t add much except around the mantle and actually took more away than added, tucking away the coastal pieces like seashells. It’s fun to tuck some of your favorite decor away so when you pull it back out it feels new again. It keeps things fresh and never boring.

Since fall is a shorter season with Christmas coming in quick, we don’t like to overspend or over decorate. One of our favorite trends we’ve seen this season and brought into this space is red pears. We used some that we got from the grocery store on the coffee table and will definitely be searching recipes to use them in a fall dish soon.

FALL KITCHEN

Our color scheme for the living room and kitchen is the warmest tones of fall—the colors that nature produces during the season. I love adding copper and amber tones with pops of deep red and even hints of navy.

One of the best ways to make it feel like fall is to put pumpkin in all your food 😋 Really, good food just makes a home warm, inviting and full of fall feelings. These dishes we have out on the island are from some really amazing food bloggers and were absolutely delicious. These are also quick, easy and affordable so have the girls over for lunch to celebrate the season change and whip these up.

RECIPES

  • Honey Beer Bread – This recipe is shockingly easy and when they say fool proof it really is. I’m not typically very skilled in the kitchen, but this made me feel like a pro!
  • Pumpkin Chicken Chili – This pumpkin chili can be made healthy with coconut milk or indulgent with cream cheese. Of course we went the cream cheese route because that’s the best way to celebrate a new season.
  • Caramel Dipped Apples – We didn’t follow a special recipe. Just dipped apples in caramel with a little white chocolate and they were just right.

FALL DINING ROOM

We took a little bit of a different approach with the dining room. This is actually the first Thanksgiving with the dining room table. We love that everything we’ve decorated with, except the pumpkins, for the fall tablescape is great for every day entertaining.

The navy gives a coastal pop to the fall season and orange tones compliment the blue hues so well. We’ve seen so many using blues in their fall design so we were excited to take it on as well. The faux blue pumpkins came in an assorted bag from Kirklands and were super affordable. We mixed a few real pumpkins and gourds in there as well.

If you’re interested in seeing the Touch Gold Project as it’s decorated every day you can take the tour here. Also, if you’re in the mood for more fall goodness take the Fall Tour last year where most of what we decorated with was cut from the backyard.
