Fall Decor Inspired by Nature – Fall Home Tour

We believe seasonal decor should budget friendly and simple. There is such a short transition between Fall and Christmas festivities and it’s such a busy season, that we believe it’s important to SIMPLIFY. With that being said this is also a really fun time to have fun with design and do things that you typically wouldn’t do during other times of the year. It gives us an opportunity to be playful with decor and ease that itch to switch that us design junkies so often feel. Today we’re sharing our Fall Home Tour at the Touch Gold Project along with our best tips for decorating this fall.

Like any good season decor we started with the mantle. If you don’t have a fireplace all of these tips still apply to you!

OUR FIRST TIP IS TO USE WHAT YOU HAVE!

I know this is obvious, but it’s so easy to forget this during the hustle and bustle of a crazy season. You can easily spruce up a home for fall simply by using clippings from the yard along with a few fairytale pumpkins. Bring out the cozy blankets and change your letter board quote all with a hot cup of coffee in hand and voilà, your home is decorated for fall.

You can see we layered overgrown lantana from the backyard on the fireplace. We used gourds and pumpkins we got from our local grocer for 99 ¢. We grabbed deer antlers that we already had to give it a little more height and whimsy. We filled a pair of rain boots with a bouquet from the grocery store. Yes, there is a vase of water in the boot to keep them alive 😂We also added clippings of evergreen from the yard to add a little whimsy to the arrangement. I love making a store bouquet look like a backyard arrangement.

If you’re a long time Farmhouse Living reader then you knew pups were involved when we were decorating for Fall. If you’re new to our blog, Dogs & Decor are our very favorite things. Sam was stealing gourds and Sadie is posing for photos like a classic poodle 😉

OUR SECOND TIP IS TO LAYER WITH ITEMS THAT CAN TRANSITION INTO CHRISTMAS AND WINTER.

I love this, because when you’re decorating for fall you’re getting somewhat of a head start for Christmas. It seems that each year we are decorating earlier and earlier for Christmas. I mean Hobby Lobby has ornaments out in July 😂 I think using items that go in both seasons strips away the overwhelm of going all out for both as well as saying time and money.

Items that work in both seasons include:

  • Pine Cones
  • Greenery
  • Birchwood/Wood in General
  • Deer Horns
  • Birds Nests

Here we paired mini white pumpkins with pittosporum stem. This was also overgrown on the porch, but looks great here. I love using this stem when using real stems, because like ever green it lasts for a long time and doesn’t have to be changed out often. These cuttings would look great layered in for Christmas as well.

Our friends at Trinity Outdoors decorated our Fall Porch Scape and we just love how welcoming and cozy it looks. If you’re local to the Dallas area, we most definitely recommend them!
