DIY Farmhouse Coffee Bar
It’s no secret that we’re coffee lovers at Farmhouse Living. I mean when we were searching for coffee mugs to sell in the store we chose the BIGGEST ones we could find. When my friend Lucy told me she wanted to set up a coffee bar in the kitchen of her new home I was a huge fan of the idea. Why wouldn’t you have a space dedicated to coffee in your house? Today I’m so excited that we’re sharing the finished project. It’s simple, but I hope it gets your creative juices flowing if you’re wanting to put a coffee station in your home.
The focal piece is clearly the chalkboard designed by Hey Mel Designs. I love the coffee doodles that illustrate what each drink contains. This little space would definitely have me rising and shining.
This little space was definitely done in a cost effective way. The light fixture was even DIY’d and the easiest DIY ever I might add. The hardest part is finding someone to hang it up for you if you don’t have a handy husband.
We started by purchasing the chandelier at the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity Restore in Garland. ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores that engage the community with on-site donation and volunteer opportunities. Many would see no hope for that $10 brass chandelier on the ReStore shelf, but we knew how beautiful it could be with a little paint and love. We used Rust-Oleum Chalked Ulta Matte Paint in Aged Gray from Home Depot. We didn’t use a fancy brush or anything special. We just took the paint and brushed it on the chandelier.
It took some time to get the little creases and some we couldn’t reach well until we hung. Lucy’s husband is pretty handy and was able to hang it up, but it should be pretty inexpensive for your local electrician to hang. Then once it’s hung you can spot check with the paint one more time.
